Rates range from 0.28% – 8.78%.
The UI tax rate is comprised of a Base Rate or Benefit Ratio plus three Adjustment Factors:
1. Ineffectively/Non-charged Charged Factor – Used to replenish the fund for benefits which are not charged to a specific employer’s account or charges that are not recoverable because of the maximum rate limitation.
2. Employment Support Fund Factor – Used to fund special programs and to support employment office programs.
3. Fund Balance Factor – Used to maintain the solvency of the UI fund. New employers’ rates vary by classification. New employers must register with the Unemployment Division to receive classification.
